How do you decide who to marry (written by children)

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY? (written by kids)

(1) You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming.
-- Alan, age 10

(2) No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with.
-- Kristen, age 10

WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?

(1) Twenty-three is the best age because you've known the person FOREVER by then. -- Camille, age 10

(2) No age is good to get married at. You got to be a fool to get married. -- Freddie, age 6

HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?

(1) You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids. -- Derrick, age 8

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?

(1) Both don't want any more kids. -- Lori, age 8

WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?

(1) Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough.
-- Lynnette, age 8

(2) On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that Usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.
-- Martin, age 10

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS GOING BAD?

(1) I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns.
-- Craig, age 9

WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?

(1) When they're rich. -- Pam, age 7

(2) The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that - - Curt, age 7

(3 ) The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do.
-- Howard, age 8

IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?

(1 ) I don't know which is better, but I'll tell you one thing. I'm never going to have sex with my wife. I don't want to be all grossed out.
-- Theodore, age 8

(2 ) It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them. -- Anita, age 9 (bless you child)

HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED?
(1 ) There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there? -- Kelvin, age 8

And the #1 Favourite is........

HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?

(1 ) Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck. -- Ricky, age 10

my goodnight story

tonight at bedtime, as I was hugging my son Alec, he looks up at me and says

"I love yah Mom" "I love yah all the way up to God and his bones and I love you with all his Angels and all his skin"

all I could muster was "me too Ali, me too."

then he expands even greater. "I will love yah forever Mom"

"me too Ali, I will love you forever"

perfection found in a 5 year old.

OK OK OK. I’m IT! Leave me alone already! I live in the tropics (think s-l-o-w) and I have 2 active boys and I really don’t know how to read anymore. But here is my most recent list.

How many books do I own?
We have around 50 in our house. Mostly about airplanes. Or war. Or both. Or children. The rest of our books are in storage in Vernon and it’s been too long to remember.

Last book I bought?
Come on! Remember the children factor? It was a magazine, it was 2 months old when I bought it and I bought it because it said something about “Brad and Jen” splitting up!

Last book I read?
The Berenstain Bears’ New Baby.
I read the WHOLE thing last night!

5 Books that meant a lot to me?

1.
What to expect when you’re expecting.
You would think with a third baby on the way I wouldn’t need the refresher course. Provides a lot of consolation for me being away from comforting medical practices.
2. The Passion of Love by E.G. White
given to me by Craig and Vic. Along with the DVD “The Passion of the Christ”
I have only been able to digest a few pages at a time. Still haven’t viewed the movie hoping for some undisturbed time to do both.
3. The God Chasers.
Don’t have the author off the top of my head but that was a good read and I especially like the title. What I think about being and remind my boys that they too can chase after God..
4. Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon.
This is a 3 maybe 4 part endeavor. I say endeavor as each book is over 1000 pages of small fine print. But very cool. Briefly, it’s about summer and winter solstice, Stonehenge, travel through Stonehenge and herbal remedies. Of course ‘love’ hangs around it too. Ahh yes and the Scots, a bit of familial ties perhaps. When I read these books, I was young, gorgeous and single and couldn’t think of anything better than a trip to Stonehenge and a voyage thru it and maybe even falling for the likes of a Scotsman “Red Jamie Fraser”. After 4 months of Marriage, my German husband and I took the trip TO Stonehenge (not through it) and after 6 years of marriage, he gives me those very copies of Diana Gabaldons’ books. Brand spankin’ new too! Could you call that full circle? Not really but I had to mention that in here just the same. My Gerry knows me all too well.
5. Psalm 121. author, not necessarily King David but widely assumed to be his writings as he had written many of the Psalms.
It’s a book, and it’s all meaningful, but particularly this passage in its entirety.
I lift my eyes to the hills – Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
To the end of the passage.

freezing cold in the tropics

Well, it's happened. We slept with polar fleece blankets and socks last night. I question if we will ever be able to 'survive' in Canada again!
Only around 9am did we start to warm up again when the sun was feeling it's full strength. Now, around 1300hrs, it's too hot to be outside or any other place other than a shadey spot.

We got a little kitten about 5 days ago. It's been 4 days since we've seen it. Do you know if Mongoose or Mina birds eat cats? carnivore or herbivore? This retarded cat occupies my stinkin dreams as I spent most of my sleep last night searching high and low for it and wouldn't you know, just as it's whereabouts were to be revealed, I wake up.
Perhaps tonight I'll find out more... Did I tell you Alec named the cat "Electric Kitty" imagine calling that one in for dinner.

Looks like popsicles are being divied out, gotta split!

day after the five year mark.

All is well after 20 children and parents over here for Alecs 5th birthday. It was a lot of fun for us all. Seriously, it was fun, even for the Mom and Dad. Alec was in his glory with his best buds showing up and his best girl too. Apparently I made too many cakes and bought too much ice cream. I will have to go to playgroup for the next millennia in order to get through some of the treats I had made. Fortunately, we have playgroup twice a week and lots of children to feed. So, hopefully I can get some room back in my freeser soon. This keyboard has never been the same since Eli spilled his cordial drink on it. I think I’ve lost my ‘letter that comes after ‘”Y. I would type it but it doesnt work!

Alec is so happy to be my little helper these days. Its like he has waited his whole life to be five! Everyday I get frustrated by my boys but it is more than balanced out by their hugs and kisses and I love yous. I just wish I could capture the precious nature of Alec and Elias and when they are grown men, re-live those captured moments. I have found the only way to capture these little men is to get into their lives. I figured out that just watching them doesn’t really involve me in their moments, Im just on the sidelines that way. I want to be in those memories too. Getting up into that old fort takes some effort (we wont even talk about the Mango tree-house) at six months and getting down is twice the effort but the grins on my boys face and their comments of being "so proud of you Mommy" make every effort worthwhile.

I have gotten out of the sidelines, at least more often and with my bula boys.

happy birthday Ali babawa, Alecazam, Alec-gator, ali-zimzam, Prince Ali handsome is he, Alec a traz, Alabama, Aleki, ALEC. We are lost in your eyes and the miracle of you and all your power. Thanks God for our Alec.

Happy Birthday Alec!

My little one is 5 this day.
He wakes up a little bit earlier than usual and sneaks into our room and whispers. "Mum, I just can't help it, I'm SO excited about my birthday!"
Then he crawls in with us and takes a deep breath, relaxes and snuggles. Kisses my growing abdominals and says "good morning baby" and then runs to answer the phone. His Gramma Gwen has called to say I love you and wish him a happy birthday. We all have a quick visit and then Alec and Elias are off to play with the "new" playdough. (homemade but it's a new colour. Orange, a really big hit!)

Cheerios, (or rather the South Pac equivalent to them) coffee for Mom and Dad, a freezy pop for nutritional balance for the kids and now we are cleaning up the house and yard as it's rained too much to have Alecs party outdoor near Gerrys hangar (think airplanes and little kids, oohs, ahhs) So, we will be infiltrated by 18 kids and their families.
yes, 18 kids and their families.
can you say ooh? ahh? Are they crazy?
could be.
Will let you know tomorrow.

the real reasons

SO, yesterday I spoke with my younger bro Brad and then my older sis Lisa. I haven't chatted with either for just under 2 years. I think. Regardless, it's been way to long. Lisa and her gang are heading this way and her question to me was "What can we bring you?" oi lei!

I have no idea what I'm missing anymore. Other than Kraft Dinner and Tim Hortons'.What else does Canada have that I can't get here. Mind you at exorbitant prices and probably post dates too, but what the heck, beggers can't be choosers . I did ask my sis to bring me some materninty clothes as I really don't have the hang of the sulu, as soon as I start walking faster than a saunter, it slides down. Perhaps this is the real reason everyone moves a little slower here. (Could it also be the 800% humidity? I think not!) I also will need a nursing bra, I have not seen one here at all. It's not really something that another person can get for you. so maybe this is an even better reason to hit Canada for the birth of our baby in Oct. A BRA! the real reason to go home.
How do you like them apples. ;)
